Finding a contractor is easy. Finding an honest, quality and safe contractor is hard. Most of us have been burnt or had a bad experience with a contractor that:
1) Didn’t do quality work
2) Cut corners
3) Wasn’t safe
4) Didn’t guarantee their work or make things right.
Fortunately, finding a good contractor is possible with some homework and questions. This is critical to a quality job and one that does not have issues after the contractor has left due to mismanagement, quality issues or poor customer service.
Here are some tips for finding a good contractor:
1) Do they have a detailed, precise scope of work and contractual documents? Is the bid professional?
2) Do they audit their work? Do they have a safety and quality inspector?
3) Do they have GPS tracking on all equipment? Is someone assigned to audit that data and verify the time billed to you?
4) Do they guarantee their work?
5) Will they do what is right? What are their core values? Do they even have any? If the project has a hiccup, do they address it and fix it without delay and extra costs?
6) Is their equipment newer and reliable?
7) Is their employee turnover low? What are their hiring practices?
8) Did their bid seem way too low?
Unfortunately, there are a lot of bad apples in the contracting space. At Lanracorp, we are pushing hard to change that image and to lift the industry up to a higher standard. Our goal is to change our industry by constantly pushing to provide our customers the best experience possible, to live up to and make every decision based on our core values, and to audit every single process we have. From GPS tracking and auditing of equipment and crews to our in-field safety and quality auditors…. we put forth the money, time and labor to ensure an honest and quality job is performed. We don’t cut corners. We do what is right.
We are asking the entire industry to step up and do what is right. Do the absolute best job. The safest. The highest quality. Go above the customers’ expectations.
