INTEGRATED Vegetation Management

Keeping land, easements, and industrial corridors clear is not just a maintenance task. It is a safety requirement, a regulatory obligation, and a long-term cost management strategy. Lanracorp provides professional vegetation management services for pipeline operators, utility companies, railroads, renewable energy sites, and industrial facility managers across the United States.

With over 15 years of experience and crews that specialize in high-complexity environments, we bring the equipment, expertise, and strategic planning that large-scale vegetation management demands.

Industries We Serve

  • Pipeline and Oil & Gas: ROW corridor mowing, integrated vegetation management, herbicide application, and habitat management along pipeline easements.
  • Utilities and Power: Transmission and distribution line clearing, IVM programs, and herbicide treatments to maintain safe clearances and regulatory compliance.
  • Railroads: Track-side vegetation control, herbicide application, and brush management to maintain sight lines and prevent interference with rail operations.
  • Renewable Energy: Vegetation management for solar farms and wind farm sites, including mowing, brush control, and perimeter clearing.
  • Industrial Sites: Grounds maintenance and vegetation control for refineries, manufacturing facilities, and other large complex sites.

Our Vegetation Management Services

Integrated Vegetation Management (IVM)

IVM is the most cost-effective and environmentally sound approach to long-term vegetation control. Rather than relying solely on repeated mowing cycles, IVM combines targeted herbicide applications, native grass and wildflower establishment, and strategic mowing schedules to reduce long-term maintenance costs while improving site conditions. We build custom IVM programs tailored to each site.

Railroad Vegetation Management

Lanracorp handles trackside vegetation control for railroad clients, taking on this demanding, ongoing responsibility so rail crews can focus on operations. Our services include brush removal, herbicide application, and right-of-way clearing along active and inactive lines.

Refinery and Industrial Vegetation Management

Large, complex industrial sites require a specialized approach. We keep dedicated crews and equipment on-site at refineries and industrial facilities to ensure familiarity with safety protocols, consistent quality, and efficient maintenance. This approach outperforms rotating crews in both safety outcomes and site quality.

Herbicide Application

Every herbicide program we design is customized. We assess the specific weed pressure, soil conditions, and environmental sensitivities of each site before selecting the right pre- and post-emergent herbicide mix. Our crews have managed projects ranging from single acres to over 1,000 acres across bare ground, foliar, and cut stump applications.

Industrial Vegetation Management

For industrial clients outside of the energy corridor, Lanracorp provides comprehensive vegetation management to keep facilities clean, safe, and compliant. This includes grounds maintenance for manufacturing sites, transportation hubs, and other large properties where overgrowth poses safety, fire, or compliance risks.

Why Integrated Vegetation Management Matters

Traditional mowing-only programs are a short-term fix that compounds costs over time. An IVM approach shifts the vegetation composition on a site toward lower-maintenance species, reducing the frequency and intensity of future treatments. The result is a cleaner, safer site at a lower long-term cost.

Lanracorp has expanded its IVM capabilities significantly in recent years, providing clients with strategic vegetation programs that deliver measurable results over multi-year timeframes.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between standard vegetation management and IVM?

Standard vegetation management typically refers to recurring mowing and removal work. Integrated Vegetation Management (IVM) takes a broader approach, combining mowing, herbicide application, and strategic plant establishment to shift the site toward lower-maintenance conditions over time. IVM generally reduces long-term costs compared to mowing-only programs.

Do you handle vegetation management for industrial sites outside of energy corridors?

Yes. Our industrial vegetation management services cover a wide range of large, complex sites including refineries, manufacturing facilities, and other industrial properties where overgrowth management is a safety and compliance requirement.

What regions does Lanracorp serve for vegetation management?

We serve all contiguous U.S. states from our locations in Brownstown, IL, Toledo, OH, and Ponca City, OK. We are equipped to deploy regional and national vegetation management programs.

How do you customize herbicide applications for different sites?

Before any herbicide program begins, our team assesses the site for dominant weed species, soil conditions, proximity to sensitive areas, and the client’s long-term vegetation goals. We then design a custom mix of pre- and post-emergent herbicides and treatment schedules specific to those conditions.

Can you manage vegetation on solar farms and wind energy sites?

Yes. Renewable energy vegetation management is one of our growing service areas. We provide mowing, herbicide application, IVM program design, and habitat management for solar and wind farm sites.

Our Steps to Implement an Effective IVM Plan

Assess Your ROW

IVM is a strategic approach, and each section of your ROW will be handled differently according to the terrain, species, and plant growth of that specific ROW.

Build this Data into GIS

We will take the above data and plug it into GIS. This will provide a very detailed ROW plan that breaks down what is needed in each section, whether that is mechanical (trimming or clearing), herbicide only, the establishment of low-growth plants, or all of the above.

Create a Detailed IVM Plan

We will work with you to develop a detailed plan based on the assessment and your budget. This plan may be one year or five years long, and it will include hitting the worst areas first and moving into a maintenance cycle over time.

Implement and Monitor Your IVM

Staying proactive ensures long-term success. We utilize GIS technology to monitor progress and plan future work, as well as make any necessary changes. At Lanracorp, we stand by your side as a trusted partner throughout the years to come.

Integrated Vegetation management In A Nutshell

what does ivm do?

  • Reduce woody regrowth through the use of selective herbicides
  • Create native grass establishments in select areas along the ROW
  • Create habitat areas along the ROW in select locations
  • Use a mix of herbicide and mechanical means to more effectively control woody growth
  • Allow for border zones in areas to promote wildlife habitat.
  • Create a larger, strategic plan by ROW segment to achieve the goals above based upon need. Not a shotgun style approach of one size fits all.

Customer Benefits

  • Flatline budget
  • Strategic ROW program
  • Lower costs long term
  • Better landowner relations
  • Strengthens public image and community trust
  • Supports ESG and sustainability goals

  • Reduces operational risk

  • Lowers pollution and emissions

With Lanracorp’s expertise and advanced GIS and drone program, we can plan successful integrated vegetation management for years to come.
